About Me
When I was a little girl, my dad once told me he hadn’t seen my face properly for several years because my nose was always buried in a book—and he wasn’t exaggerating. I could read a book in the space of a few hours, losing myself in the author’s imagination and emerging only to rehash the entire story to any on-hand listener. My love for books and my curiosity about the world inspired me to become an editor and a storyteller.
After I graduated high school as valedictorian, I left Massachusetts, my home state, to pursue a career in writing and editing at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. I enrolled as an English literature major and an editing minor and never looked back. I worked as a writing tutor in BYU’s library and as an editorial assistant for BYU Studies, which helped me become comfortable writing and editing in a variety of academic genres—including opinion editorials, literary criticism, religious analyses, technical reports, and many more. I pursued my interest in writing and editing fiction by volunteering for Inscape and Leading Edge, BYU student journals that publish short stories in fiction and science fiction/fantasy, and also by volunteering as a beta reader and editor for self-published authors, some of which have received awards. I currently work as a freelance editor for Familius, where I mainly edit nonfiction children’s and middle-grade books. I also work as an academic writing coach at Utah Valley University.
As an experienced editor and writer, my love for books and storytelling has only increased. My professional training has taught me how to promote compelling storytelling in both fiction and nonfiction. I am eager to help authors achieve their writing potential in both genres. My attention to detail, my strong work ethic, and my communication skills will help me provide thorough, high-quality edits and written content while working well with new and experienced authors, editors, and publishers.
